Compassion is man's best friend, guilt is a girl's guilty pleasure, and standing in front of a burning building in the middle of a busy
intersection in nothing but a towel is a complete
embarrassment. Cigarettes and sex don't match, at least not before.....
Auxi stood there smiling at the police officer, false words filled her head and emptied from her already corpse like lips, cold and heartless indeed. "Me and my boyfriend were just laying around and smoke started filling the room, I was so scared", she almost seemed believable. The officer gave a subtle chuckle and folded his notepad before telling her that he "o so personally" would make everything alright. She began walking towards me, fully clothed unlike myself, how she put hers on so fast is a mystery since she took forever taking them off.
"Excuse me sir, are these yours?", an officer in glasses big enough to melt sand
thrusted a pair of pants a few inches from my face. "
Ummm, yea, thanks", I said taking the pants and shaking the dirt off with quick whip in the air.
"So now what
Auxi, they will find out what happened, I know how this works, do you have a plan, or is this you officially ruining my life", I said this with reverence in my voice, knowing that no matter the answer, I would be unsatisfied. "Time, time, time, time , time".
She stared out into the distance, the busy streets continued, a man with boxes stumbled on a sidewalk, a girl holding hands with her father crossed the
intersection, a couple kissed and parted into adjacent buildings, the silence in all of this gripped me with fear.
Not a sound, no horns, no voices, a southern metropolis in complete silence, and then it began...
The southern end of the business district was freckled with small skyscrapers, and as the district ended at my end the buildings grew shorter and stouter. It didn't matter how large these buildings were, or how much they broke the atmosphere, it didn't matter because their existence would be as short as the man stumbling with the boxes on the corner, or the girl and her father crossing the busy
intersection, or even the loving couple.......
They fell one by one, a group of over sized dominoes falling with the ease of a god's push. Man's building blocks returning to their original places. Towering
accomplishments reached their demise in nothing but fire and ash, the way we should all go. Streets filled with dust and screams began to fill my ears, and turning to run didn't seem important.
Cops and heroes alike began their duty to help protect the lives of the city, crowds ran by me, and the hundred feet that separated me and
Auxi only allowed me to see the sinister smile that illuminated her face.....
